CNN Live Stream

CNN Live Stream

CNN is a paid-for cable television US-based news channel. It provides 24-hour coverage of the latest news and current affairs.

A CNN Live Stream is also available on several different online platforms. Together with its sister station CNN International, the channel is broadcast in 212 countries and territories worldwide.

CNN Background

The CNN news channel is currently owned by WarnerMedia under the umbrella of AT&T. It was set up by media mogul Ted Turner, and its first broadcast was on the 1st of June 1980.

CNN was the first all-news cable television channel, and it has since grown into one of the most popular channels, serving well over 100 million households.

CNN has also developed a successful strategy of appearing on nearly every television placed in a hotel. This channel is broadcast on 890,000 American hotel rooms alone, and that figure is much more significant when extrapolated to the rest of the world.

CNN Programming

Much like the other leading news stations CNN primarily broadcasts from New York City, although it does have studios in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Atlanta.

As previously mentioned, CNN was the first cable channel to focus solely on the news. Even today, the bulk of the programming schedule is focusing on delivering news bulletins throughout the day and night.

It does intersperse those bulletins with special focus programs such as Inside Politics with John King. On weekends, programming does change quite significantly to focus more on factual and documentary-style programs.

To date, CNN has produced over 35 original documentaries/mini-series, some of which have received great critical acclaim. The most successful of these documentaries was American Dynasties: The Kennedys, which managed to draw in an audience of 1.7 million viewers.

CNN Live Stream

Live streams of CNN are now available on a number of subscription-based internet TV platforms. It’s one of the reasons behind their world-leading reach of 212 countries and territories.

Since launching online, CNN has managed to gain a presence in 82.8% of American households.

Their reach doesn’t stop there though, with CNN available on Sirius, XM, and Sirius XM satellite radio stations.

CNN News Channel Coverage

CNN has gained notoriety for its coverage of many key events during its 40-year existence.

The channel was catapulted onto the big stage and left many big rivals behind during their coverage of the Gulf War in 1991. This was because they were the only American news station with the ability to communicate from within Iraq.

They famously broadcast live pictures of the first bombs to be dropped during the coalition forces’ campaign.

CNN was also the first new channel to break the story of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Whilst they brought pictures to the world at 8:49 am, many other stations didn’t onto the story until just after 9 am.

More recently, CNN had the most watched year in the history of their network thanks to the 2016 US Presidential Election. This success was in part, due to showing large portions of un-edited Trump rallies.

It is expected that viewership figures will exceed those number during the 2020 US Presidential campaign.
